COVID-19 Precaution: Kimberley Alpine Resort Closed for the Season
Dear Guests
Further to our March 15th decision to suspend Ski Area Operations, after careful consideration of the quickly changing circumstances around Coronavirus (COVID-19), Resorts of the Canadian Rockies has made a decision to suspend ski resort operations for the remainder of the 2019/20 ski season at our Western Canadian Resorts, including Nakiska Ski Area, Fernie Alpine Resort, Kimberley Alpine Resort and Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. Here at RCR our number one priority is the safety, health and well-being of our Guests, Team Members, and the Communities which we live, work and play in. As tough a decision as this has been, we feel it is the right thing to do under the current circumstance.
In an effort to limit social interaction we will not be opening our guest service and ticket offices for the time being, both at resorts and our Calgary office. For questions regarding purchased products please email the address below (In response to this situation we are receiving an overwhelming volume of calls and emails, your patience is appreciated as work respond to these requests).
We sincerely apologize to you our guests for this inconvenience. As always, we truly appreciate the support which we receive from you and thank you for that. We will look forward to welcoming you back to our resorts and Mountain Communities in the future.
Sincerely,
John Shea
President/Chief Resorts Officer
Resorts of the Canadian Rockies

Kimberley Alpine Resort’s Summer Glading & Mowing Program
Kimberley, B.C – Kimberley Alpine Resort conducts an annual summer glading and mowing program on the mountain to add new skiing/riding, to get our existing runs open and in better shape earlier. We upped our commitment by 30% this year and our hard working crew did a great job getting us ready for winter!
We focused on three programs this summer:
- Hand Glading out treed areas, increasing the amount of ridable terrain:
- Runt Glades – We opened up this area, which is a locals’ favourite with steep and deep tree skiing on your way to Easter Chair.
- All Over Glades – We cleaned up the glades on both sides of All Over Run – top to bottom tree skiing – Oh yah!
- Anton’s Glades (skier’s left) – We opened up the chutes at top skiers left then continued brush cutting down skiers left.
- Anton’s Glades – (skier’s right) – The steep trees between Anton’s and Flush visible to the left of the of the Easter Chair were cleared out of alders and deadfall. You can now ski the trees and pop out on Flush or keep following the ridge down eventually popping out on Anton’s.
- Jackpot Glades – These glades have been cleaned up and are ready to shred.
- Dean Glades – This area was cleaned up last year and we did a bit more brushing this year focusing our efforts on skiers left. A fun blue run for the intermediate and expert.
- Machine Mowing on existing runs:
- We expanded our summer grooming capabilities with a newer cat specially adapted with a large mower on the front to assist mother nature in opening up the slopes as early as possible. We focused the majority of our summer cat grooming on the front side and blue intermediate terrain on back side including the Main, Stemwinder, Buckhorn, Mambo, Moe’s, Purl, All Over, Caper and others.
- Hand Mowing and Cutting by crews on existing runs, including:
- Runt, Anton’s Black, Geneva, Tamarack, Jackpot, Jackpot Glades, Lower Main, Below Skier Bridge, Owl TBar, Nate’s Way, Upper Mambo, Lodge Face, Twist, Midwinder

Kimberley Alpine Resort is scheduled to open on Saturday, December 14th, keep an eye on our website, social media & RCR app for updates.
We look forward to an awesome season and seeing you on the slopes!

Michael Bernard Fitzgerald concert & dance party at Kimberley Confernence Centre
Calgary singer-songwriter Michael Bernard Fitzgerald will be bringing a quartet to the Kimberley Conference Centre on February 16th for a concert and dance party that is sure to appeal to the young and the young-at-heart.
MBF, as he is popularly known, is a rising star in the alternative/folk/soul genre of popular music with an impressive collection of albums, EPs, and singles to his name. For much of the past decade he has toured North America, Europe and the UK, appearing at clubs, theaters, and festivals including the Calgary, Ottawa, and Winnipeg Folk Music Festivals in Canada. MBF has appeared on stage with Bryan Adams, Joel Plaskett, Steve Winwood, Third Eye Blind, and Ben Harper among others.
Fitzgerald plays a Gibson J45 acoustic guitar upon which he composes many of his songs. He is inspired by the likes of Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Seger, Feist, Souls of Mischief and Mason Jennings. His stated goal is to pursue his craft as honestly as possible – devoid of smoke and mirrors.
