ABILITY LEVELS

Ability Chart

Skier Ability Levels (Children & Adult)
Level 1 This is your first time skiing. Basic fundamental skills are learned here. (Magic Carpet)
Level 2 You've skied a couple times, but have not mastered stopping or turning. Looking to improve speed control, smooth linking of snowplow turns on green slopes. (Magic Carpet - T-Bar)
Level 3 You have skied a few times; comfortable stopping, linking snowplow turns on most green slopes and experimenting on blue slopes. Your skis are starting to be parallel and you're looking to develop speed management skills to ski blue slopes and get on the chair lift (T Bar, Limited / First Chair Lift Experience)
Level 4 You are confident and comfortable stopping, linking turns and have good speed management on all green and blue slopes. Your skis are parallel most of the time and you are looking to become a smooth parallel skier and develop skills for skiing black slopes/runs. (Quad Chair Lift)
Level 5 You are comfortable skiing all blue slopes and like to experiment on some black slopes. Looking to gain more confidence and control on steeper slopes, develop carving skills and get off piste in the bumps, powder and crud. (All Chair Lifts)
Level 6 You are confident on all slopes and like to ski all snow conditions on and off piste. Looking to challenge double black slopes and become smoother and more efficient in on all slopes and all conditions at all speeds. You want to be challenged. (All Chairs & Runs)

Snowboard Ability Levels (Children & Adult)
Level 1 This is your first time snowboarding. Basic fundamental skills are learned here. (Magic Carpet)
Level 2 You have boarded a few times. You are comfortable on your heel edge and need to work on your toe edge and stopping. (Magic Carpet and T Bar)
Level 3 You are comfortable on your heel and toe edges but need to work on changing between the two edges (turning or "S-Turns") (T Bar / Limited / First Chair Lift Experience)
Level 4 You are comfortable linking turns both ways on green slopes and are looking to build confidence or control working onto the steeper blue runs. (Quad Chair Lift)
Level 5 You are confident on all green and blue slopes and are looking to experiment on black slopes. You are wanting to ride bumps and begin riding switch. (All Chair Lifts)
Level 6 You are confident all over the hill, on and off the groomed runs. Blues and black, bumps and steeps, jumps and switch riding. Looking to refine your skills and take your riding to the next level. (All Chairs & Runs)

 

NOTE: Helmet policy is now in place requiring all children under 13 taking a lesson must wear a helmet. Helmets are available for rent at Rental Shop or for sale at the Retail Shop.
