We’re incredibly proud to share that our very own Winter Sports School Instructor Sam Lancaster has been named to the Canadian Interski Team. This elite group will represent Canada at the Interski Congress in Vail, Colorado in 2027.
So… why is this such a big deal?
Let’s put it this way: Making the Interski Team is like making the Olympic Team for ski and snowboard instructors! Only 12 skiers + 2 spares are chosen out of 25,000+ CSIA members across Canada — the best of the best of the best.
And what makes Sam’s story even more impressive?
He’s not even a full-time instructor! Sam is a full-time Power Engineer at the pulp mill, a part-time Firefighter, and still somehow finds time to coach, train, and teach on the slopes at Kimberley Alpine Resort. His dedication is truly next-level.
Sam has been working toward the Interski Team for years, grinding in the gym, skiing at a high level, and giving back through his work with the CSIA and Kimberley Alpine Resort. He went up against 80+ top instructors at the western tryouts at Sun Peaks, performing everything from short turns to bump runs, expert big turns, synchro skiing, and teaching lessons — and he crushed it.
What does this say about our team at Kimberley?
It says a LOT. We’re lucky to have one of Canada’s best ski pros right here at Kimberley Alpine Resort. As Training Coordinator for our Winter Sports School, Sam leads by example — running training sessions, mentoring new instructors, and delivering top-quality lessons to guests of all ages and levels.
Having some of the best ski instructors in the country no doubt helped us receive the Bronze accolade by snowmad.com for the Best Ski School in North America! The Snomad Ski Resort Awards are based on 140,000+ real skier ratings from the 24/25 season, making them the most authentic and unbiased recognition in the ski industry – free from paid-for nominations or self-collected votes.
