New Air Service links Powder Highway with the World
For Immediate Release: November 27th, 2017
New Air Service links Powder Highway with the World
British Columbia – WestJet link has just been announced! WestJet link is a new regional air service, operated by Pacific Coastal, which will now provide flights into the Cranbrook International Airport (YXC). Skiers and snowboarders can land and ski on the Powder Highway all in one day with YXC located under 30 minutes away from Kimberley Alpine Resort & under 60 minutes away from Fernie Alpine Resort. With flights from Calgary International Airport costing just about the same as a tank of gas, it’s a quicker option to get on those slopes as fast as possible!
Starting March 2018 WestJet will be flying YYC —> YXC 3 times daily with fares starting at $64 (one way, plus taxes).
“This is very exciting news for the City of Cranbrook and surrounding communities. Residents from the East and West Kootenay have been waiting for years for WestJet connections to Calgary giving access to destinations around the world. This also opens up the world with easier access to the Kootenays. Pacific Coastal has been a great supporter of the Canadian Rockies International Airport and this solidifies their other routes with us. We will put concentrated effort into encouraging the public to take advantage of this added service.”

For Immediate Release: October 10th, 2017
What’s New this Season at Kimberley Alpine Resort
Kimberley, B.C – the team at Kimberley Alpine Resort takes pride in providing out guests with the best vacation and recreational experience possible, continuing with this tradition there are a number of changes and upgrades we’re working on pre- ski season to ensure this one is one of our best yet! Some of the highlights include;
New Eats & New Brew!
We’re looking forward to debuting a brand-new restaurant in the plaza at the base of the resort (where Montana’s previously was) called Buckhorn & Main Mountain Eatery. Introduced near the end of last season, Kimberley is proud to now pour its own beer – try the Stemwinder Ale this winter, on tap at The Stemwinder Bar & Grill and at Buckhorn & Main.
Host Mountain to NorAm & Para World Cup Races
Starting in February 2018 and continuing into March we’re excited to be hosting athletes from all over for the Para World Cup, Noram Finals and the Special Olympics events. Not only will this include racing in multiple categories by these amazing athletes, there will also be various parties, parades and celebrations throughout the event weeks.
Lift Upgrades & New Equipment
The Northstar Express had new drives installed, these control the electric drive motors and the magic carpet has a new “blue dot” belt for better traction. Our mid station snow making pump is getting revitalized for improved snow making, in addition to a new snowgun to our fleet. All three of our groomers are getting complete overhauls and we’ve added a new snowmobile to the team!
Men’s Bumps & Brews All Mountain Ski Camp
Bumps & Brews All Mountain Ski Camps are not just another ski lesson, rather a guided mountain experience with some learning thrown in! The focus at our men’s “Bumps & Brews” All Mountain Ski Camps, is personalized skier improvement in all types of fun and challenging terrain on the mountain. You will ski lots of powder, tree runs, natural terrain, deserted groomers, train in brushes & race gates and show you secret stashes you can and can’t imagine! We take full advantage of the best terrain and help you experience and realize a whole new way of skiing the mountain. Bumps and Brews Camps do ski on groomed runs, but not necessarily practicing ski drills or exercises. We’re different, we’re exciting and you’ll love it! It will be the best ski camp experience of your life! Skiing, Fun, Friends and Skill Improvement.

Four Amazing Bands Announced for Annual Spring Splash Season Closing Festival at Kimberley Alpine Resort
Kimberley, B.C – tunes, turns and tans! That’s how we like to describe the last weekend of the ski season at Kimberley Alpine Resort. Saturday, April 8th features our annual Spring Splash Pond Skim at 1pm followed by a FREE outdoor concert on the big stage in the plaza with the Hi -Strung Downers at 3pm and headliner band The Cave Singers at 5pm.
The Cave Singers is an Indie Rock/Indie Folk band from Seattle, Washington composed of former members of Pretty Girls Make Graves after its disbandment in 2007. Cave Singers, have released five albums since its formation in 2007.They bring in a vast assembly of instruments including the occasional jazz flute in front of two guitars, a drummer and a bassist. Their songs are all brought together by raspy, howling vocals of lead singer Pete Quirk. Check out their single “That’s Why” to see why we are so excited for Saturday, April 8th at 5pm in the Kimberley Alpine Resort Plaza.
Join us on Sunday, April 9th for the popular Dummy Downhill event at 2pm and watch the crashes along with the Hi-Strung Downers at 3pm and Good Ol’ Goats at 4:30pm on the big stage in the Kimberley Alpine Resort Plaza. This will be the last time you can enjoy the Good Ol’ Goats live before they begin their new adventures.
